Well I know of 1 from my personal experience that for some reason everyone seems to fall for.
It's called the snipe hunt. Try to keep a straight face. Most of the time anyone who has been on a "Snipe Hunt" before will instantly back you up on anything you say, as they too have probably been embarrassed by it as well.
This is great for 1st time campers.
Start your conversation casually and ask your intended victim(s) if they have ever seen a Snipe before. If they say no, you should immediately act surprised and give them a hard time about it.
Next explain how easy it is to catch this "nocturnal bird". You will need to convince your intended victim to wait until it is dead quiet and pitch dark to catch them, as this is the only time they come out. Your next step is to explain that once it's dark enough and the fire has gone out that they can easily catch one by dragging a paper or plastic bag along the ground and calling out "Snipe, Snipe, Snipe". This is exactly what their call sounds like and it will attract them.
Once your intended victim(s) are fully engaged in their Snipe Hunt and you have had your laugh, you can immediately tell them how silly they were for believing you to begin with.
