Harry Potter is awesome.
1/2 Prince has a Elf main character, and it's a good adventure/fantasy/sci-fi manga
Every type of genre you could possibly think of. Action, adventure, drama, fantasy, mystery, whatever you are interested in. Judd Apatow is a good producer.

Try the series Warriors. It is about cats that go on an adventure.
Bad habits are shown in a negative light- akin to Drunk driving in )Pinocchio- they are not shown as something good. Anime, angled at an older audience- well it is best to avoid such habits completely- as they normally add nothing to the plot- one is moralistic fantasy- the other well, action adventure! different content and age brackets. there is no excuse for either habit in adventure fiction in my estimate.

That's a matter of opinion, but if you enjoy fantasy, adventure, and a little mystery, then I would say that you would probably really, really like the series. If sales speak for quality, the series first came out in 1990, and is still a strong seller.
