Since you mean children, I'll recommend some books that are appropriate for readers under sixth grade. These books have little to no sexual content, little violence, and minor to no profanity. One book for very young readers, (kindergarten) is Twenty and Ten by Claire Huchet Bishop. The Holocaust is a touchy subject. Think before you tell a first-grader what a gas chamber is. The ones with * are true stories.
