The world really does not have a capitol, but since the headquarters of the United Nations in is New York City, some people poetically refer to New York as the capitol of the World.
Also, since New York is a hub for international financial transactions, the city is sometimes called the business capitol of the world. However, London and other cities are beginning to compete for that honor.
