there are many good ska covers bands in Hampshire but The Skandalz are the best Original ska bands. Check out their album Opportunities Knocked which has a great mix of ska, punk and reggae in the unique Skandalz style.

Some good drum bands are the Police and the Gorillaz
There have been 3 waves of ska: 1. Jamaica in the 1960s 2. UK in the late 1970s and 1980s 3. USA in the 1990s Famous first wave bands include Toots & The Maytals, Prince Buster, The Skatalites and Desmond Dekker. Famous second wave bands include The Specials, Madness, The Beat and The Selecter. Famous third wave ska bands include Reel Big Fish, The Aquabats, The Slackers and Less Than Jake. There are still hundreds of bands out there playing ska, it's not dead, they just aren't making as big an impact and the 3 waves did. Hope this helps :)
i believe ska was one of the first genres in which bands consisted of both black and white musicians, playing music together. the checkerboard of black and white symbolizes this.

In the 60's, it was Jamaica with traditional Ska music, then it became popular in the 70's and 80's in England with the second wave or Two Tone, then it hit America in the 90's for the third wave which spawned ska-core and punkska. There are ska bands from all around the world though!
Everyone has heard of the great Bob Marley, the reggae legend but there are many other great reggae artists such as The Maytals or Alton Ellis. Ska the precursor of reggae had many hits such as Baggy Trousers by Madness or A Message To You Rudy by The Specials.
Bob Marley, a Jamaican singer/musician, composed and played mostly Raggae records although he was also involved with some with ska and rocksteady bands.
