The printing press
Johannes Gutenberg invented the movable type printing press in 1436. This was instrumental in terms of making information more available to the world in a manner that cannot be overestimated. It helped spread ideas ( some good, some not so good ) to a wider audience.
Gutenberg was a good man to the state of his company
Johannes Gutenberg grew up in a relatively affluent family in Mainz, Germany, during the late 14th century. His father, a merchant, provided a stable environment, allowing Gutenberg to receive a good education. However, little is known about his early life, as historical records are sparse. He likely experienced the cultural and technological changes of the time, which would later influence his groundbreaking work in printing.

When Aldus Manutius learned how to print fast enough that people could afford his books. Gutenberg was the first to print with movable type, but it took so long to set up a project it was cheaper to copy it by hand with a pen--which is how monasteries supported themselves. Aldus printed little books called Aldine Editions, and sold them for a good price so the common people could have books too.
