The Eiffel tower was built in 1889. It was designed and named after an engineer called Gustave Eiffel. When it was built it was the tallest building in the world. It held that title for 41 years then was overtaken. after that, they put an antenna on the top so it could reclaim its title. :) hope this helps :)
