Children of alcoholics can have almost constant feelings of anxiety and fear as they become aware that the adults in their life are not reliable. They are often neglected emotionally and find it hard to build trusting relationships with any other adults in their lives.

Are alcoholics self centered and demanding?

I don't think you can classify alcoholics as there are different levels of alcoholism, different reasons or issues for each individual, and each person is an individual. Alcoholics can certainly be demanding and selfish when it comes to actually drinking or wanting to drink. I realize their lives revolve around drinking but some are only to a degree and then some its their will to live but that's what makes them all different.

What are the long term side effects of children born from alcoholics?

Children born to alcoholic parents may face long-term side effects such as fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD), which can result in cognitive impairments, behavioral issues, and learning disabilities. These children are also at a higher risk for developmental delays, emotional problems, and difficulties with social interactions. Additionally, they may be more susceptible to substance abuse issues later in life, as well as mental health disorders. Early intervention and supportive environments can help mitigate some of these challenges.
