Nothing in The Bible reveals this. In the New Testament the wise men were called Magi. This means they were astrologers, alchemists, seers, and possibly vizers. If the Magi did what the Gospels related, they came to Mary and Joseph's house when Jesus was about two years old; there would have been way more than just three of them (correlates to 3 gifts) . There mission would have been to see the fulfillment of certain prophecies, and verify.
