morphine is the benchmark opiate, all other opioids are measured strentgh wise in comparison with morphine. depending on which condition is being treated, various alternatives are out there. methadone is comparible in strength ad action, aswell as other opioids such as hydrocodone, codeine.[although these are weaker]. morphine is in a league above most other opioids,a few such as hydromorphone, diacetalmorphine[heroin] are stronger again than morphine. but most of the time morphine is such an effective drug little calll for the stronger formulations exist apart from palltive nursing.
Another narcotic used if someone can not take Morphine is Demerol.
There is a relatively new drug, Nucynta, that can be tolerated well by those who cannot use Morphine. It does not seem to cause as much nausea or constipation. However, it is not quite as effective and is quite expensive.
dilaudid(hydromorphone), although its similar, its a totally different compound
ALOT of morphine
YES!! I'm allergic to codeine, morphine, fentanyl, or anything else with the, "eine" in the end of the name. So my Doctor prescribed Opana for me. It does not have any kind of morphine or it's cousins drug in it. Hope this helps. Robin
codiene will have no effect if you are taking morphine - morphine in value exceeds morphine by 1/1000
Yeah of course, real ecstasy doesn't have morphine in it!
im allergic to morphine and even tho i hydrocodone(vicodin) and the sorts metabolize into morphine in the liver i can still take it or oxycodone(percocet) also the medicine hydromophone ( dilaudid) is good for heavy pain and is what hospitals give to patients allergic to morphine.
It all depends on what exactly your allergic to. If you are allergic to all opiates, than NO, you cannot take methadone, but if you are allergic to a certain chemical in morphine than you can take methadone because it is a different type of opiate and it is synthetic. But I would consult your physician before taking another opiate like methadone if you are allergic to morphine. But for example, my friend was allergic to "Percocet" because of the acetaminophen that is mixed in with the pill, but he was able to take oxycontin, which is the same drug as is used in percocet, because the acetaminophen was absent.
If patient is truly allergic to either Demerol or Fentanyl (i.e. anaphylaxis or anaphylactic shock), then give morphine. Both drugs mentioned above are synthetics, which are completely different family from morphine, which is an alkaloid. Hope this helps.
Tramadol and Tylenol (apap) are both non-narcotic pain relievers. They are not related to codeine. You should be fine.
Most probably. However, there are subtle differences that may allow you to take codeine. There are other opioids that you may be able to take. Hydrocodone (Vicodin) and oxycodone (Percocet) may work for you. You might also consider tramadol which is totally synthetic. Good Luck.
Can I take morphine and valium together
You may ask about synthetic morphine-like medications if needed in the hospital. Natural morphine compounds have more of a probability, in many cases, of causing allergic reactions, whereas synthetic compounds are a bit less likely to. Warn your Dr. about the allergy you had and you can probably have a skin test done with a pssible alternative. There are some pain medications that do not irritate the mast cells( that release histamine, causing allergy) that can be used instead.
i take it you got a morphine prescription you should do the morphine after Dr takes you fully off of the suboxone then discuss the morphine with your dr
