They believe that everyone is inhabited by alien spirits. They believe everyone is an immortal soul, or thetan, that is trapped in a human body. They also believe that at high levels you can have superpowers. They also believe that the evil dictator Xenu, the dictator of the Galactic Federation, took billions of people from his planet and brought them to Earth, where he killed them all with hydrogen bombs. Their souls are what they think are thetans.

Well, I will try to explain a few things quickly.

Self Respect: When a horse is broken, that might be good for the cowboy, but it is bad for the horse. The horse has lost his Self Respect and is now more or less a slave to the cowboy relative to what life was like as a wild mustang. When a person is broken, or agrees to become a slave, they lose their Self Respect. In Scientology a person may go through a lot of things and finally get to a place in their life where they realize how they lost their Self Respect and it then returns, or they may handle something, like drugs, or some other major worry in their lives then attain Self Respect. Without it one has little of honor in their life. Self Respect is sacred. The ability to hep others attain it is sacred.

The State of Clear: When one works their way up to the state of Clear one often finds in himself, and frees himself from, each of those things one might see as representing the worst of mankind. That might include insanity, and criminality, and sickness, and any of the long list of cruel things one might do to or receive from another. One attains a state of honor and grace that one may have no recollection of ever having felt towards himself before. The State of Clear is sacred. Helping others attain it is sacred.

I think what you are looking for is the Code of Honor. One might have many laws in a given group or country or society, there may be many rules you must obey to satisfy others. Their may be others past and present that you might not wish to disappoint. But the Code of Honor is something one chooses for himself. Every time you violated it in past, it has resulted in tragedy. But no one else may enforce it. It is something one holds sacred for himself.

Self-determinism: In developing Scientology many, many things were tried and evaluated, and a part of that evaluation was how successful others had been using something. Each action, each process, each principle, each law all have one goal and one thing in common amongst all the different aspects of life it might apply to. Does it increase one's self-determinism? Doing one thing might have vast effects on another person, but if it does not increase their self-determinism then it may not be used. Lowering someone's self-determinism tends to increase their dependence on the choice of others. If one wanted to become a dictator that is what one would do, lower other people's self-determinism. That is what all dictators, tyrants and slave masters, and charlatans have in common. So Scientology does not do that. We increase people's self-determinism. Creating self-determinism in others is sacred. This is unique, as far as I know, among the religions of the world to Scientology.

So what is sacred to others? Let's try God. Now to a Scientologist if a relationship to God increases their self-determinism that is one thing, and such a relationship does exist. But what if it is used to kill people as in the Spanish Inquisition? That relationship was not good for those that died. In 1549 or so a Spanish monk had all the known written documents of the Mayan Empire in the world destroyed. This was not good for the Mayan concept of God, and of course it did not reflect highly on the Spanish monks that did it. Over the course of time the Inca Civilization of over 15 million souls was reduced to less than a million by the Spanish. Their use of religion in the New World is not highly respected. So what shall we say if such a Spanish monk says that the Mayan Religion is not a religion because they do not believe in 'our' God. Or if such a monk were to say of the Inca, or Aztec or of Scientology? Well, we would have to look no further than their actions and influence in the world. Did they kill or enslave 15 million or so Inca? 6 million or so Mayan? 3 million or so Aztec? And what shall be their plan for us? For the world?

Well, Scientology has a Goal of 'A Clear Earth'. A goal of 'A Civilization without Criminality, without Insanity, without War, where honest beings can have Rights.' If you want these things to, then you might look it over.

These things are sacred.

If Scientology is not legally recognised in some countries does that make it a cult?

Cult is a matter of perspective--in some countries Christianity may not be legally recognized! A cult really is a religion of any sort. The popular use of the word "cult" however, implies a "non legitimate", shady religion. Some of the teachings of Scientology are quite fantastic but then there are bizarre fantastic stories in many "accepted" religions as well--people being raised from the dead, etc.

Yes, many children do and there are no age restrictions as to who may participate in Scientology auditing or training. Some Scientology Churches conduct courses and study programs specifically designed for young people. Children below the age of majority must first obtain written consent from their parents or guardian to participate in Scientology services. Like adherents of other religions, Scientologists are very proud when their children join them in the practice of their religion.

How many Churches of Scientology are there in Egypt?

There are, as of 19 September 2015, no Scientology churches in Egypt. The closest ones would be in Israel. Egypt has a very limited freedom of religion, which really only applies to Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Some religions like Baha'i and Atheism (which would be a religious designation) are barely protected by the state. It is doubtful if Scientology would be permitted in Egypt in the near future.
