God's Kingdom is a government established by Jehovah God with a King chosen by God. Who is the King of God's Kingdom? Jesus Christ. Jesus as King is greater than all human rulers and is called "the King of those who rule as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords." (1 Timothy 6:15) He has the power to do far more good than any human ruler, even the best among them.
From where will God's Kingdom rule? Well, where is Jesus? You will remember learning that he was put to death on a torture stake, and then he was resurrected. Shortly thereafter, he ascended to heaven. (Acts 2:33) Hence, that is where God's Kingdom is-in heaven. That is why The Bible calls it a "heavenly kingdom." (2 Timothy 4:18) Although God's Kingdom is in heaven, it will rule over the earth.-Revelation 11:15.
When Jesus said that his disciples should pray for God's Kingdom to come, he also said that they should pray for God's will to be done "as in heaven, also upon earth." God is in heaven, and his will has always been done there by the faithful angels.
Consider the prophecy found at Daniel 2:44. There we read: "In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite." This tells us that God's Kingdom was to be established "in the days of those kings," or while other kingdoms still existed. Second, it tells us that the Kingdom will last forever. It will not be conquered and be replaced by some other government. Third, we see that there will be war between God's Kingdom and the kingdoms of this world. God's Kingdom will be victorious. In the end, it will be the only government over mankind. Then humans will enjoy the best rulership they have ever known.
The kingdom of heaven is described as having attributes such as righteousness, peace, and joy. It is a place where God's will is fully realized and where there is no suffering or evil. It is a realm where believers will experience the fullness of God's presence and love for eternity.
The terms "kingdom of God" and "kingdom of heaven" are often used interchangeably in the Bible to refer to the rule and reign of God in the hearts of believers. Some interpret "kingdom of God" as a broader concept encompassing all creation under God's rule, while "kingdom of heaven" is seen as focusing specifically on the spiritual realm. Ultimately, both terms point to the same reality of God's sovereignty and the presence of His kingdom among His people.
The Gospel of Matthew substitutes the phrase "kingdom of heaven" for "kingdom of God."
In many religious beliefs, heaven is considered to be eternal and everlasting, a place where the righteous will reside for eternity. The idea is that once someone enters heaven, they will not leave and will enjoy eternal peace and happiness.
In Matthew 16: 18-19 Our Lord appoints Peter as the head of the Church:"I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."This is the origin of Saint Peter traditionally illustrated holding keys.
Jesus used parables to teach about the kingdom of God, such as the Parable of the Sower, the Parable of the Mustard Seed, and the Parable of the Prodigal Son. These stories conveyed important spiritual truths in a way that was easily accessible to his listeners.
