100,000 Dollar fine and up to life in prison! DON'T DO IT!
Call the police
It makes that person a criminal ! Computer piracy in simple terms is THEFT ! Theft is a criminal offense world-wide ! If caught, the person in possession of the pirated software would face charges - resulting in either a large fine and/or jail time. Writing computer programs can take a programmer days, weeks or even YEARS. Using pirated software deprives the legitimate writer of income. Before using such software - ask yourself a simple question - How would YOU feel if someone else was being paid for work YOU did !
By choosing to update your software, it will connect with the company website and transfer information. Some of that information is a serial number used to identify and operate that particular software. When the company notices that the serial number used to update is one that has been pirated or even used on many different computers all over the world, they will have record of your personal information and could prosecute you for theft of their software. In short, it's a bad idea to use pirated software if you don't want to go to jail. It's an even worse idea to contact the company itself and tell them you are using pirated software (which is what it usually does when you update) and go to jail.
Not possible. You can't modify software

Depends really on who catches you. ISP - Banned if they catch you downloading (unlikely, but happens) Police - Fine perhaps, but jail time unlikely (they wouldn't be searching for pirated software though) Parents - Grounded
The main risk is losing money that you didn't need to spend. Why buy pirated software when you can either buy the software for real and not suffer risk or a hit to your concience. The second risk is that it's still illegal to own pirated software. So you'd have lost money and still gained a criminal record if you're caught. A 3rd risk is that you're spending money on something that unless you've sampled, you potentially are getting a product you didn't want, or is of low quality. Just don't do it. Go the the piratebay.org or the shops. Both much better alternatives.
Corrupted files, virus-infected disks, inadequate documentation, and lack of technical support and upgrades as well as legal penalties for using pirated software.
Strictly speaking, Private Servers are not legal, since you are essentially using a pirated version of the server software required to play the game.
With software piracy many users get used to using the software. Among them there exists some who may not like to do what they are doing, some who use pirated software unknowingly, unintentionally. These users when given suitable stimuli in terms of appropriate marketing campaigns, offers and discounts, are likely to change to legitimate users. For knowing about these customers, the companies must know their personalities i.e., which type of people use the pirated software and for what respecified having accomplished this the software companies can make their offers to woo these users by helping them become legitimate users.
