The holy spirit is first mentioned in The Bible at Genesis 1:2 where is reads: ....."God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters." The Holy Spirit is not a person as some speculate, rather is it the power behind God. The Scriptures figuratively refer to holy spirit as God's "finger." (Luke 11:20; Matt. 12:28) And "the work of his hands"-what Jehovah created by means of his holy spirit-brings him great glory. "The heavens are declaring the glory of God," sang the psalmist David, "and of the work of his hands the expanse is telling." (Ps. 19:1) Indeed, physical creation testifies to the awesome power of God's holy spirit. (Rom. 1:20)

The men who wrote the Bible are said to have been "borne along by holy spirit". (2 Peter 1:20,21) Bible prophets and writers were "borne along by holy spirit" in that God communicated with, motivated, and guided them by means of his active force or holy spirit. That being the case, they wrote, not their own ideas, but God's thoughts.

Additional Comments:

God's Holy Spirit is often referred to as water, fire, a dove and wind but never a person.

What is the wind of the Holy Spirit in the Bible?

AnswerThe New Testament was written for an audience that needed some sort of proof, even if that proof need only be unsophisticated by today's standards. So, the Holy Spirit never worked silently and invisibly, as presumably he could have, but descended as a dove (the baptism of Jesus) or as a wind or as tongues of flame (pentecost). It is the necessary evidence that the Holy Spirit was really there in person.

How is the Bible similar to the Quran?

As the two holy books are basically from the same God source, they are similar in some aspects, mainly:Both are same God holy books. However, Muslims believe in both the Bible and Quran as God holy books while Christians believe only in the Bible and don't believe in the Quran as the holy book of God revelation to prophet Muhammad. Both agree on some historical issue and stories as eg that of prophet Moses (although may differ in details of these historical issues and stories). Both call for good morals and conduct.

Can you help some get the Holy Spirit if you have the Holy Spirit?

You can only give what you have. If you have the Holy Spirit then you can share it to those who are willing to accept it. Be cautious however on misunderstanding sharing with imposing. ANSWER I paid someone to help me receive the Holy Spirit. There is an account in the Bible that may scare some people away from this. But if you are doing it for the right reasons it does not hurt to pay someone. I paid a member of a ministry team because I wanted to speak in tongues real bad. But this was out of a real heartfelt desire to worship God at the next level. I would not recommend paying for this out of a desire for prestige or something.

In some Christian beliefs, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is considered the only unforgivable sin. This is based on a passage in the Bible where Jesus mentions blasphemy against the Holy Spirit as being unpardonable.
