Not all rivers are dirty to drink from but most of the time rivers have slugs and worms and tadpoles and frogs spurn inside them which is very bad for you indeed and they may even have saliva in them so most of the time rivers are very unhygienic to drink from and you risk catching so many things. But on the other hand, some rivers are cleaned out once in a while so they can be very clean indeed and you can drink from some. So to answer the question, some rivers you can drink from and not catch any diseases but other rivers you can die from as there can be to much bacteria in them.
