If you’re heading to Costa Rica, most people start by flying into San José, which is what I did too. From there, one of the most popular ways to explore the country is renting a car — it gives you total freedom to hop between beaches, volcanoes, and little towns at your own pace. Some routes even involve a scenic ferry ride, which ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip.
While planning, I came across a Pinerary Costa Rica trip, and it matched exactly how travelers usually get around — fly in, rent a car, maybe take a ferry, then road-trip your way through the country.
If you’re not into driving, shared shuttles, private transfers, and even public buses are really common too, and taxis or ride-share apps are perfect for shorter hops. No matter which option you pick, getting around Costa Rica is easy, fun, and part of the adventure.
