Practical jokes in history are commonly referred to as "hoaxes" or "pranks." They often involve a setup designed to deceive or surprise someone, leading to humorous or unexpected outcomes. Some notable examples include the "Great Moon Hoax" of 1835, which falsely claimed the discovery of life on the moon, and various media pranks that have tricked the public into believing outrageous stories. Ultimately, these jokes serve to entertain, provoke thought, or sometimes critique societal beliefs and gullibility.
