The Holocaust is a term used to refer to the genocide that the Nazi regime in Germany began. The intention was to purge German society of those races and people that were considered sub-standard and a drain on society. The poor, Jewish, Gypsies, Homosexuals and other groups considered sub-standard to the Aryan race were sent to concentration camps to 'clean up' the rest of Germany and the occupied countries.
yes
no, but they were not seen as being in danger as they were not targeted in the same way.
The US and the other Allies did nothing to increase the number of Holocaust deaths.
Some were Catholic, some were Protestants, but it is hard to believe that any of them were truly observant Christians. A few were declared atheists.
The Holocaust was the main one, this was the murder of about Six million people (Jews). There were two other actions which are often grouped in with the Holocaust, but deserve their own recognition: The Murder of the Gypsies, they suffered most of the same persecution as the Jews, with some noteable differences. But thought they suffered in the same industrial complex, it was for different reasons. Also the actions in Yugoslavia, they are generally included with the Holocaust, but they were not led by the Germans and included other groups.
yes
i think that it wasn't just hate, i think that it was something personal that had to do with the holocaust. The Germans had some personal business with the Jew's.
no, but they were not seen as being in danger as they were not targeted in the same way.
Well it all started when Adolph Hitler started killin him some Jews and then it started.
because they are Jews
Indeed they were. Political opponents to Hitler were executed. As were Germans who protected Jews, and German Soldiers who betrayed Germany. and of course the gypsies
It is an oft asked question, there was not (as some tried to suggest) a specifically German thing about the Holocaust. Germany, under the Nazis provided the breeding ground for many of the factors leading to the Holocaust, but it was only when the war came and the pressures of the eastern front that persecution turned to genocide. There were many genocides carried out in Europe at the time of the Holocaust, the one in Yugoslavia, more brutal that the Holocaust may have happened under the protection of Germany, but was not instgated by Germany. Many facets of the Holocaust were due to the problems created by underlying resentment from especially the last twenty years, but in some cases beyond. __________________________ Another view is that it was all because Hitler said so.
The US and the other Allies did nothing to increase the number of Holocaust deaths.
Tried to persuade the germans to free some jews in exchange of weaponary
They were the victims, persecuted and killed by the Germans. They were held in ghettos and camps; some were shot to death and many were gassed.

There were collaborators in most countries occupied by the Germans. When the Germans invaded the Soviet Union, they recruited - in particular - some Ukrainians and Latvians to the SS, and some of these men were very active as guards in the death camps and some participated in open air shootings. Croatia and Romania organized their own Holocausts.
