It is likely true that absolutely everything is capable of absorbing sound waves; if there are materials that cannot, they would be special indeed. Some materials are much better than others, but even the materials that are most resistant would be absorbing small amounts of energy from sound waves, assuming that the material is in a medium (like air) capable of transporting sound.
these are materials which are extremely strong, yet flexible. strong as to not break when a bullet hits it, and flexible so it can absorb some of the shock from the bullet
Materials that are porous, that is, that have pores or open areas within the material where gases or liquids can enter, will absorb and hold water as well as other materials. A good example is a sponge, which absorbs water through pores or openings and holds it inside.

Base-isolated buildings using rubber or steel pads minimize earthquake damage to buildings by absorbing the energy from seismic waves. They act much like car shock suspension, which absorb energy while keeping car occupants and the car base steady.
No. In the process of saving YOUR life, the shock absorber portion of the lanyard is destroyed. Some work by a controlled ripping apart of a fabric strap, some by controlled breaking of stitches, but both are good for ONE arrest of a fall. The body harness should ALSO be replaced. A retractable lifeline should be returned to the maker for inspection and repair as needed.
Prevents vehicle damage/injury by absorbing the energy of an impact, by being made of softer materials. Some vehicles have springs, most have crump zone bumper mounts.
some people fall everyday but some do not fall everyday
By absorbing some of the energy.
