Really though, a democracy is the ideal form of government. There is really not much wrong with it. However with out certain guidelines and rule corruption would run rampant.

Marx tended to talk about economic systems (communism/ capitalism) rather than political systems like Liberal Democracy. It is possible to have a liberal democratic state but also have communism - but rarely in history has this happened. But if it id Marx wouldn't have had any problem with it. If you are going to equate liberal democracy with capitalism then basically his main criticism is that the bougoise (sorry about spelling) rules over the proletariat, and thus maintains the social hierachy.
