You do not have a very high chance of surviving, a hurricane picks up many things along its path of destruction and then at some point drops these items... at the altitude of a hurricane and the distance it travels, it's not looking good.
It is entirely possible, but such things cannot be predicted. Hurricane Sandy was a very unsual storm that showed some unprecedented behaviors.
