She was related to Robert E Lee, who later became the head confederate general during the civil war (Robert Lee married her great grand daughter.). She had over 250 slaves, which she freed in 1801. She stayed with her husband, general George Washington, during the revolution war. Imagine staying at an army camp for that many years!
