Here are some tips for theater acting, since i am an actress!
1. really feel the character's emotion, use method acting to remember a time when you felt like that
2. memorize your lines ON TIME
3. Use your hands when you talk
4. don't be afraid to move your feet
5. be nice to your cast and they will be nice to you
6. have respect for your director(s) and you will be cast in a show again
7. Keep your hands at your side (what i mean by that is don't keep your hands in your pockets, or up your nose, you will never get too far like that!)
8. HAVE FUN :)!!!!!
9. Dont over do it. Make the audience believe you are not acting.

Theater is about bringing meaning through acting. Pasing information using gestures or actions.
While no career is quite the same as acting, some are similar. But first, I need to know what your definition of acting is, Theater acting? Movie/TV acting? etc. The only similar jobs I can think of are; singing, miming, becoming a Drama teacher, acting on stage, acting in a film/on TV.Hope I helped =P
