Here are ways that politicians seek to get your vote. Many are deceptive or manipulative.
- Tell you what they think you want to hear, and then lie, lie, and lie about how they are going to do what you want them to do.
- Promise more money to address local problems. The kicker is that it is YOUR money that they took in the first place, and most of it doesn't come back!
- Lie about the history, opinions, and plans of their political opponents.
- Present themselves as a sympathetic friend who shares your values. At least until they can find a way to promote and enrich themselves at your expense.
- Wastefully spend tax dollars supposedly to solve your problems, and in the process creating even more expensive problems.
- Try to convince you that they are smarter than the previous officials, and have better plans. (Many of which have no chance to work.)

* advertise on TV and the internet;
* advertise on the radio;
* hold news conferences; and
* make public speeches and speak at meetings of special organizations such as the American Legion.
