By definition, a chemical change is anything that changes the chemical properties of a substance. So, if any substance chemically changes, such as a piece of burning wood, a rusting pan, or a burnt piece of toast, that is a chemical change.

Chemical changes are happening all the time. There are several different types of chemical change, including: synthesis, decomposition, single displacement, double displacement, neutralization, precipitation, combustion and redox. Whenever chemical reactions occur, the atoms are rearranged and the reaction is accompanied by an energy change as new products are generated. An example of a chemical change is the reaction between sodium hydroxide and hydrogen chloride to produce sodium chloride, or table salt. This reaction is so exothermic, meaning it releases heat in the form of energy, that even flames are generated. This is an example of a chemical change because the end product is molecularly different from the starting molecules.

Some things that signal a chemical change include the formation of a gas, a change in color, the production of heat or light, the formation of a precipitate (solid particles forming in a liquid), or a change in odor. These are observable indications that a chemical reaction has occurred and new substances have been formed.

How do you know if somethings chemical change or physical change?

In a chemical change, a new substance is produced. For example, if something is burnt, it is no longer what it originally was and is, therefore, a chemical change. A physical change is a change in appearance: shape, quantity, and form of matter (solid, liquid, gas).

What does not signal a chemical change color change or production of light and heat or production of gas or change in state?

color change

What are physical changes in biology?

The physical changes do not belong to chemistry but there are two types of changes. The chemical changes and the physical changes. A chemical change it's to mix to liquids that will form a new product. Physical change is the change that changed somethings shape but not consistency.

State why there is a brief delay in the transmission of an impulse across the synapse?

The impulse must go from one neuron to the next. To do this, it must change from an electrical to a chemical signal, and back to an electrical signal when it reaches the next neuron. Electrical signals are impossibly fast, but neurotransmitters cannot cross a synapse that fast. So, the impulse is at its slowest point when it crosses the synapse.
