Well, tachyons have not been proved real yet. If they were real maybe one day we can possibly travel through time or used their speed of 20 times the speed of light to reach far places the universe and beyond.
Tachyons are theoretical particles and cannot be equated to existing massed particles.
Not only are tachyons possible, but their existence is necessary for many of the most highly accepted current theories of physics.
Tachyons are imaginary subatomic particles that always travel faster than light.
No not ever.
Depends what you mean by "fringe." Some PhD's in major institutions are doing research into tachyons. But it is not considered an area that a LOT of research effort is being or should be done.
Tachyons are theoretical faster than light particles.
They are called "tachyons."
hypothetical particles whose velocity exceeds the speed of light also spelled "tachyons"
Tachyons are any theoretical particles that have an imaginary mass. Because all tachyons have an imaginary mass, the velocity of all tachyons must exceed the speed of light (contrasted with Bradyons like electrons, quarks, and composite particles which must always move slower than light). Most modern theories suggest that even if such particles exist, they would likely be short lived due to effects such as tachyon condensation.
Not as far as we know. Theoretically these particles are called tachyons.
Simply put: they don't. Though they do travel faster than the speed of light, they can never be slowed down to subluminal speeds, thus they cannot be used to send information faster than the speed of light.
Tachyons are hypothetical sub atomic particles that can travel faster than the speed of light.
