An industry which is manufacturing Yarn from cotton is referred to as textile industry. The factory which converts the yarn to fabric and the industries which die those fabrics and give it to markets for public usage are also called as textile industries. Production of man-made fibers such as Polyester, poly amide etc.,can also be included in this category.

Well first off, textiles don't exactly "do" anything due to the fact that textiles are cloths in large amounts and are basically like string and yarn and such. Clothing is the main use of textiles.
