The thirteen people she mentions in the tapes and the thirteen different experiences that each person provides her. In order here are her reasons:

1. Justin, the boy she first kissed, exaggerated what they had done when they kissed. (This led to the next events. The snowball Hannah calls it)

2. Alex, a boy who put her as the hottest ass in the freshman class on his hot or not list. (This gave the snowball speed. Gave others to right to do the things they did)

3. Jessica, one of her first friends, technically. Though they never call each other friends. She's angered by the fact that Hannah is on the hot list, while she's on the "not" list. Her and Alex used to have a thing. And The original rumors from Justin, didn't stop. Alex and Hannah had their rumor too. Jessica believed it, despite knowing Hannah, knowing it couldn't be true. This is what is her reason for Jessica.

4. Tyler, a boy who stalked her. Outside her own bedroom window. Taking candid pictures, until one night. Where Hannah and another girl (Courtney) purposely posed to catch him. (They did, but not before he caught more pictures of them. Pictures that would give this snowball more speed)

5. Courtney, a really nice girl. A girl who hurts people without even knowing it. She was nice only to gain "tallies" for being voted nicest for the senior yearbook. After the picture scenario with Tyler unlike what Hannah had thought, they didn't become closer friends. Not until Courtney needs her again (This leads me to believe that Courtney's on her list for being a user.) to get a ride to a party.

6. Marcus, a boy who took a valentines survey. And got Hannah on his list. They ended up on a date at Rosie's. Only he stands her up. On Valentines day. Well, he's 30 minutes late, he thought it was joke. And had gone "just in case" with a plan to get her cornered, and ended up calling Hannah a tease. (This most likely all happened for to reasons 1,2,4.)

7. Zach, Was at Rosie's when Hannah was with Marcus. He saw her pleading look and ignored it. After Marcus leaves he goes over to her, asking if she's okay. After this Hannah first considers what you assume is suicide. Zach wasn't able to save her, and Hannah felt he was only hitting on her. She was right. He was angry that she was unresponsive. And to get back at her, he took her notes of encouragement for a Peer communications class. She needed the encouragement of those notes at this horrible time for her. Zach pushed her further over the edge. After catching him, he gave her no reaction or explanation. And she felt she didn't even deserve it. After this point, Hannah suggests to Her Peer com. teacher they discuss suicide. Her classmates didn't believe it was real. Otherwise they'd have a name. They were annoyed.

8. Ryan, editor of the schools paper, always prints out random found items. He printed a poem of Hannah's, only it was stolen. The poem was known all over the school. Even talked about in English classes.

9. Clay Jensen. (She says he doesn't belong on her list.) Hannah wanted to say that she was truly sorry for never really getting to know Clay.

10. Justin Foley, her first kiss and first reason. At the party after Clay had kissed her, she hid in a closet while Justin let Jessica be raped by Bryce Walker. (So many names!)

11. Jenny Kurtz, a cheerleader that helped Hannah out with the Valentine's survey. After The party where Hannah and Clay hooked up, Jenny offered Hannah a ride home. However, she drove off the road and hit a stop sign. She refused to call the police and kicked Hannah out of the car. The stop sign caused an accident that caused the death of a senior.

12. Bryce Walker, after another party at Courtney Crimsen's house, Hannah takes a walk and he calls her into the hot tub. At this point Hannah wanted her life to get worse, so she had a reason to give up. So she stripped to her underwear and got into the hot tub. Bryce then proceeded to feel her up and finger her. Hannah gave into her reputation for the first time because she wanted her world to collapse.

13. Mr. Porter, for letting her leave the counselor's office and kill herself when she told him what she would do.

It's an amazing book.

Some examples of irony in Thirteen Reasons Why include Clay being included on Hannah's list of reasons why she killed herself even though he tried to help her, and Mr. Porter telling Hannah to move on when she goes to him for help, leading her to take her own life shortly after. How are Hannah baker and skye miller similar in 13 reasons why?

After thinking about it I noticed that Hannah and Skye are REALLY similar. Do you remember at the end of the book when Clay called Skye's name? Well that was because he noticed that Skye was showing all the sign's that he had failed to notice before Hannah had committed suicide. So basically, they both changed their appearance, and they where both thinking about committing suicide. They also have similar personality traits. They're both secretive, determined, and just a little bit weak. And slightly shy.
