The Prime Meridian and the International Date Line
Ware the main properties of parallels and meridians
Qi travels through the body along channels called meridians. There are 12 main meridians, corresponding to the 12 principal organs as defined by the traditional Chinese system

Greenwich Merideans
Of the twelve regular meridians, the yin meridians always flow up the body, and all the yang meridians always flow down.
The maximum distance between two meridians occurs at the equator, where the distance is approximately 69 miles (111 kilometers) apart. As you move toward the poles, the distance between meridians decreases, converging at the poles where they meet. Thus, the equator represents the widest separation between any two meridians.
Meridians of longitude; parallels of latitude. Remember that meridians are all the same length (20,000 km) and that they meet at the poles. Parallels are, well, parallel, and are different lengths, the longest being the Equator.
meridians or lines of longitude
In traditional Chinese medicine, there are 12 primary meridians, each associated with specific organs and bodily functions. Additionally, there are eight extra meridians that serve as reservoirs of energy and help regulate the primary meridians. In total, there are 20 principal meridians recognized in this system.
Meridians on a globe get closer and eventually merge at the North and South Poles. On a map (a flat plane) the meridians are drawn parallel and there is distortion at the poles, most noticeable on a world map.
Meridians are lines of longitude that pass from the North to the South poles.
