It depends on if you are measuring by mass or by moles.

The human body is estimated to be over 65% water (H2O) by varying estimates.

Hydrogen is also part of every "hydrocarbon" in the body. However, it is also the lightest of the elements.

So, in moles, your top 3 elements would be: Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Carbon.

However, in mass they are reversed as: Oxygen, Carbon, and Hydrogen.

  2. Oxygen-21%
  3. Argon -0.9%
  4. Carbon dioxide- 0.03%
  5. Water vapour and other gases- very small quantities
