Two I bands on the sides (actin only) and an A band in the middle (myosin, partially overlapping with actin). This is a rather crude division of the sarcomere, mind you.

The three sections along the length of a sarcomere are the A band, the I band, and the H zone. The A band is the dark region in the center of the sarcomere that contains both thick and thin filaments, while the I band is the light region at the ends of the sarcomere that contains thin filaments only. The H zone is the region in the center of the sarcomere where only thick filaments are present.

How do pipes keep warm?

Pipes keep warm in one of 3 ways:Fluid flowing through them warms the walls of the tubes by imparting some of its thermal energy to the pipe as it flows and, to a lesser extent, by dissipating the heat of friction between the fluid and the pipe as well as between the molecules in the liquid with each other as they move past each other at different speeds.Heating from its surroundingsConduction along the length of the pipe from regions along the pipe that are warmer than the colder sections of the pipe.

What unit measurement can be used for water in a pond?

It depends on whether the pond basically has a flat bottom or sloped. It also depends on whether the pond (or sections thereof) is basically round or rectangular. If flat bottomed and round use the formula for the volume of a cylinder (pi X radius squared X height) . If flat bottomed and rectangular use the formula for the volume of a cube (length X width X height). If sloped and round use the formula for the volume of a cone (1/3 X pi X radius squared X height). If sloped and rectangular use the formula for the volume of a pyramid (1/3 X length X width X height). If the pond is irregular divide it into sections which are more-or-less regular and use the appropriate formula on each section. The number of sections depends on the accuracy desired-and also on the irregularity of the pond.

What is the formula to find volume in cubes?

The term cubic applies to cubes, cuboids, and other parallelograms, which have 3 dimensions - length, width, and height for example. To find the volume, multiply the length times the width times the height in any consistent units. The formula is L x W x H.

What happens to a sarcomere when muscle length changes?

1. Arrangement of thick and thin filaments: In each sarcomere two sets of actin filaments extend partway toward the center. The myosin filaments are arranged such that they partially overlap the actin filaments. Myosin heads on each side point away from the center of the sarcomere.2. During contraction, the interaction of myosin heads with the actin filaments pulls the thin filaments toward the center of the sarcomere. The actin and myosin filaments slide past each other.3. Cross-bridges = attachement betwn myosin heads and binding sites on actin filaments.4. When a muscle cell is stimulated, myosin heads are energized by ATP. They attach to adjacent actin filaments, and tilt in a short "power stroke" toward the center of the sarcomere. Each power sroke requires an ATP. With many power strokes in rapid succession, the actin filaments are made to slide past the myosin filaments.
