From what I know, there are 8 steps.

1. SENSATION = whenever you start to use your senses, this is the first stage of forming an idea.

2. ATTENTION = This is when you get aware of a thing being present in your mind.

3. ABSTRACTION = this is where you form an impractical idea or something unrealistic.

4. REFLECTION = this is when you carefully consider the idea that you felt. You fis the thoughts on something.

5. COMPARISON = you start comparing and contrasting things with the thought that you have within you.

6. ANALYSIS = you identify the parts of your thought, then you categorize and classify.

7. SYNTHESIS = you put together your idea into one single idea.

8. PHANTASM = then you get a clear image in your mind., we call this the PHANTASM.

however, ideas are useless if you do not know how to express them, and the best way to express them is through a term.
