You should ensure that the bank only allows withdrawals based on your signature, and that - since the time you gave that person the number - no changes to their instructions regarding your accounts have been made, or requested.
I think you will find it is a proxy sort code Natwest use for US$ accounts, not tied to a specific branch. I have seen it quoted in US$ IBAN numbers for companies with main accounts held as far away as Leicester and Cambridge.
