My husband has been taking 20mg of Atorvastatin from our doctor, we recently went in to get our new prescriptions after our lab tests came back and he now has put my husband on simvastatin(Zorcor) a 10 mg tablet. Can you tell me if the dosage is the same even though its a 10 mg and not a 20mg dosage? How can this be ? Can you explain this to me in simple terms.

Dosage range is the typical high and low doses that are safe and effective.
No, simvastatin is a cholesterol lowering medication.
"Low dose" pills are not less effective.
Both high and low dosages work the with same effectiveness. There isn't any difference. The trick is that the low dosage needs to be taken at the same time each day. With a high dosage, you are more "covered" if you forget to take one for about 12 hours. With a low dosage pill, you will also find you are unable to "skip" a period. The higher dosage pills allow you to sometimes continue on with the active pills and not take the sugar pills. You with therefore not have a period and therefore "skip" your period one month. Doctors prefer you to be on the lowest dosage pill that works for you. I took the lowest dosage pill for seven years with no problems.
Four white pills per dose
There are no known drug interactions between simvastatin and Depo Provera.
No. Simvastatin is not an opiate and will not register on a standard drug screen.
