In Pokémon Black 2, the places between some specific trees in certain locations are called Hidden Grottoes. The Pokémon in the Hidden Grottoes are special because the Pokémon in the Grottoes will have their hidden abilities. Additionally they can be male or female but once a Grotto has been generated, it cannot be reset for anything other than natures and IVs. Pokémon in the Hidden Grottoes cannot be generated as Shinies.
