Woven fabrics are usually smooth, unless thicker yarns are used in the construction of the fabric, the edges generally fray quite easily, they don't stretch much on the weft (horizontal) or the warp(vertical) but do stretch a little on the bias (diagonal), the tighter the weave, the stronger it is and the less likely it is to fray.
Additional Information: Fabrics are either printed(with colors to create a design) or woven (with different color threads for the warp and weft to create a design).
A very quick and simple test to see if a fabric is woven is to flip it to the underside. A WOVEN fabric will still have the same colors and perhaps even a design on the reverse, making it hard to see which is the right or wrong side of fabric. Example would be a strip or plaid. Same on either side. A PRINTED fabric will be obviously colored on one side and very whitish / faded on the underside. Printed fabrics' designs are usually silk-screened on - one color at a time.
Think T- shirt with a design. Visible on the outside and not on the inside. PRINTED
Think Tartan plaid kilt. Either way - same design. WOVEN.

The three types of needle points are: ballpoint, sharp needles, and wedge needles. Each of these needles affect fabrics differently. Use ball points for knit fabrics, sharp needles for woven fabrics and wedge needles for vinyl and leather fabrics.
Fabrics do not actually absorb heat very well. Fabrics colors hold heat if they are dark but not for long.
the answer is simple... the three flammable fabrics are 1. polyester, 2. acrylic and 3. rayon
Most synthetic fabrics made of plastic such as polyester will melt when heated enough as in a microwave. Natural plant/animal fiber fabrics such as wool, cotton, linen will not melt but will burn at high temperatures. Mineral fabrics such as asbestos will neither burn or melt unless exposed to extremely high temperatures.
Looms.
they are fabrics, which are not woven. that's about all.
No. The only fabrics that are fire resistant are fabrics that are marked fire resistant. Whether the fabric is woven or a knit has nothing to do with the fire resistance.
There are woven fabrics, and non-woven fabrics. Examples of non-woven would be felt; tapa cloth which is made from beaten bark fibre; and papyrus which is made from beaten leaves. [Q Is paper a fabric?] Woven fabrics are much more common. Ranging from natural materials such as silk, cotton, and wool; through to nylon, polyester and so on.
Less comfortable
If you're referring to temperature and breathability, woven is not necessarily cooler than knit. The breathability depends more on the type of fiber (natural fabrics versus synthetic fabrics), and less on how it is constructed (woven fabrics versus knit fabrics).Fabrics that are "cool" and breathable are:linencotton (especially seersucker)rayonlightweight woolsilkThese are all natural fabrics, and can be either woven or knit. For example, a cotton shirt could be woven (such as a button-down shirt), or knit (such as a t-shirt).And if by "cool" you mean trendy or attractive....well, that's up to you. Both woven and knit come in cool prints and colors. :)
Examples of woven fabrics are muslins, poplin, and taffeta.
It's woven.

Knitted - jersey type fabrics - are more easily abraded than woven fabrics because their surface is easy to catch on another, rougher, surface. They also pill more easily and once caught, can unravel. Woven fabrics, unless specially designed to be otherwise, have a flatter surface, and don't unravel.
by bonding or felting fibers together.
bonded fabrics are non-woven fabrics, they can tend to be bad. but the advantages are that they are cheaper, machine washable and don't crease easyly
