CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) targets changing negative thought patterns and behaviors to improve mental health. While both therapies aim to help individuals make positive changes, Adlerian therapy focuses more on understanding an individual's lifestyle and subjective experiences, while CBT is more structured and goal-oriented in addressing specific symptoms.
It depends on what you mean by "counselling." If, by counselling you mean psychotherapy, then yes, that is absolutely considered to be treatment. Psychotherapy might include cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoeducation or dialectic behavioral therapy. If, by counselling, you mean discussion with a non-professional in an unrecognised way, then no, that likely wouldn't be considered treatment.
