Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, and Germany have an alpine climate either on a large or small scale.
Alpine regions are typically found in mountainous areas rather than deserts. These regions are characterized by high altitudes, cold temperatures, and snowy conditions, making them ideal habitats for alpine plants and animals adapted to these challenging environments.
Michelle Gisin of Switzerland won the gold medal in Women's Combined Alpine Skiing. Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States won the silver medal in Women's Combined Alpine Skiing. Wendy Holdener of Switzerland won the bronze medal in Women's Combined Alpine Skiing.
The Alpine States or Alpine Countries are the countries that have some part of the Alps in their country. These are Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Slovenia and Switzerland. It is interesting to point out that 75% of the Alps are within Austria, Italy and France alone, even though 65% of Switzerland is dominated by the mountain range.
France is an alpine country. The south west part of the Alpine system lies in France. The highest moutain of the alps: the Mont Blanc, lies in France. The other Alpine countries are Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia.
