I assume by "weird" that you mean the ones that stick up and look like mini volcanos? They are also very sharp? These can be used for zesting citrus like lemons or limes or grating very hard foods like ginger or hard cheeses. I have never used them for this myself, because the smaller, regular round holes can also do these kinds of foods very easily.
