Shih Tzu's are great dogs for one. Characteristics of my 3/4 Shih Tzu 1/4 Dachsund: Silly, fun, happy, loving, stubborn, dominant, loves to play, has to be in control of my Saluki whos a lot bigger than she, likes chasing birds, squirrels, etc, makes you laugh, HATES to be groomed, doesn't bark much but when she does it isn't yappy, learns tricks and commands, very fast, comes when called if there's a treat and she wants to, not extremely food-motivated, picky eater, loves to chase balls and not bring them back, not very trustworthy off leash, loves to go for walks, not shy of strangers at all, likes other dogs if they let her be in control, sadly afraid of gunshots and other loud noises, easy to housetrain, great traveler, fun companion, CUTE, fluffy, golden, does have a delicate back and hip from the dachsund side, hates the vet, amazing endurance, much more hardy than a yorkie or chihuahua but still is as cute as those breeds, runs away from you if you chase her, occasionally takes off with a shoe or tissue, doesn't come when called, and is the BEST, most FUN little dog I've ever had.

Chihuahuas cannot be left in very hot or very cold temperatures, because their fur isn't very thick. Also, idk about other Chihuahuas, but alot of small dogs kind of gag when they are excited.
