What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a mangaka?

Well,if you like drawing ,and you're good at it,you can use it too. Some Jpanese artist earn so mouch mony from their comics/mangas.It depends on the series' popularity.The benefits,well,first,you do what you do because you like it,you don't have to depend on anyone,and you can easy earn money from a doujin book ,for example.

well, the advantages must be doing something that you love and enjoy! you can be paid an incredible wage if your series sells well and/or you start off with a well know publishing company like Tokyopop. you have freedom in your working days and hours.. you could work for so long,, then have a break! you are your own boss! but of course.. this can change if you need to meet a certain deadline.

The disadvantages would be dedication; you need to be an extremely talented person to get into the manga/ illustrating industry. it can be very expensive also. as i mentioned.. deadlines; these can be very stressful if you are not fully organised eg. your making up your story as you go along etc. it is also hard to be even accepted by an editor/ publisher; there are alot alot of talented people out there who want it as bad as you do!

above all, keep trying!! never give up; if you want it that bad and you are dedicated enough.. THEN GO FOR IT!

wage is low, you don't get out a lot, you have to devote most of your time to nothing but manga

also health problems (joints, bad posture, unhealthy diet, though this depends on the person)
