Advantages:

  • It's a cheap source of phosphate (P) and sulphur (S),

Disadvantages:

  • It has lower levels of P & S than a number of other products,
  • It contains very little of any other valuable mineral, ie. nitrogen (N), potassium (K),
  • It's quite bad for the environment. It contains a lot of water soluble P, a large portion of which can easily end up in ground water or local rivers, causing algal blooms and other nasty side effects.
