What are the advantages of JavaScript?

The obvious advantages to JavaScript (as far as i dont know what you want it compared to, and i could probably write a longer article about it) would be how it works natively and pretty well in all major web-browsers today. Instead of relying on a visitor to your web-page to run some sort of plugin.

Another huge advantage to javascript over any high-level compiled programming language is that it is easy to learn and use, in addition to being quite powerful as of todays javascript engines.
