yes the pump is in the tank. you ither need to drop the tank doun or lift the bed up, sometimes easer to remove the bed.
If your removing the fuel tank, then you do not have to bother the truck bed to do that. The bed is not in the way cause the tank comes out from the bottom.
A short bed would have a 26 gallon tank and a long bed would have a 32 gallon tank.
All short bed models have a 26 gallon tank. All long bed models have a 34 gallon tank.
Not sure what model pickup you have but for the most part the fuel tank has to be removed to gain access to the fuel pump. Some folks prefer to remove the truck bed instead of dropping the tank. Myself, I would drop the tank.
8 bolts from bed to frame, drop tank, disconect tail lights, remove tank fill tube, lift bed....done.
The front tank on an 8 foot bed is 19 Gallons. The rear tank on an 8 foot bed is 14 gallons. On a 6 foot bed the front tank is 16 Gallons and the rear is 12. The front tank on an 8 foot bed is 19 Gallons. The rear tank on an 8 foot bed is 14 gallons. On a 6 foot bed the front tank is 16 Gallons and the rear is 12. On mine, i believe the front is 19 gallons and the back tank is 16 gallons. However, i have seen front tanks for sale that are 16 gallons also, but they may be just smaller replacement tanks that fit.
it is in the tank you have to take the bed off or drop the tank it is in the top of the tank

It is inside of the fuel tank, You will have to remove the fuel tank to get it out. or you can take the bed bolts out and raise one side of the bed up and take the pump out of the top of the tank.
you have to drop the gas tank it is located inside at the top of tank. OR YOU CAN UN BOLT THE PICKUP BED AND SLIDE THE BED BACK TO EXPOSE THE TANK. THIS WAY YOU DONT HAVE TO EMPTY THE TANK.
