What are the benefit of monogamy?

That would be difficult to say as in the society's where polygamy is permitted women are usually in a second class position. as a matter of fact they could get into deep trouble if they complained about their position. In western societys it is frowned upon for no more then cultural/ religious reasons and the fact is that the benefits or otherwise would vary from partnership to partnership.
