If you don't listen to them, you'll go to Hell, so either way, obey! The advantages is of course, living like how God wants you to live. It'll be better for you and your life.

The above explanation lacks the detail needed for people to understand our Fathers doctrine and the need for Law.

The 10 commandments are our Fathers laws/rules.

The first 1/2 pertain to our Father and the Family

and the Second 1/2 pertain to the individual interacting with their brothers and sisters.

They are a part of a three part system (laws statutes and or dances) which is used to keep the people from trespassing (sin) against our Father and each other. To sin is to act contrary to or against the law. Obeying the law would keep people from sin against our Father and against each other. Sin or trespass against the law has consequences for the individual who was responsible for his or her own individual actions under that law. Its interesting to note that the Law has not changed and still stands until this very day (Matthew 5:17 & 18).

Only the blood ordinances which were sacrificed for a persons sin changed (Colossians 2:14, Hebrews 10:12). Christ loved each one of us so much that he was willing to take the punishment for our sins when we transgress against the law. Since he took the punishment, he can forgive the transgression if you ask him honestly and sincerely.

The law including the 10 commandments are the pathway for each of us as individuals to follow. The eventual judgement of your soul (Revelation chapter 20), is based upon what is written in the book of life next to your name, concerning your actions in relation to that law. Therefore its important for each individual to learn, keep and do the laws in order to assure your soul moves on to the next earth age (2nd Peter chapter 3) and that you do not wind up with your soul destroyed in the lake of fire (Revelation 20). The flesh life is a probationary period which we must pass through in order to earn the right for our soul to pass on to the next earth age.

All souls belong to our Father (Ezekiel 18:4). He will judge each soul base upon what is written in the book of life (Revelation 20). It matters not if the individual chooses to believe in our Father and Christ as their actions are still written in the book of life and they are judged according to their works. Each individual has the freewill to choose, however each individual is also responsible for their choice. So choose wisely as your soul and its ability to be imortal, relies upon the choice you make in the flesh. Keeping those 10 commandments will keep each individual out of trouble with our Father and Christ and Each other.

Its interesting to note that most civil law within the majority of countries around the world is written based upon these 10 commandments.

You will find the 10 commandments (law) written in Exodus chapter 20 and in Deuteronomy 5. Our Father does an excellent job explaining the meaning of his laws in these verses. Remember the 10 commandments as you see them written in most places are an abbreviated version of what is written in the book of Exodus and Deuteronomy. Please go to Exodus and read the entire text concerning the 10 commandments. The short version is simply a reminder.

A word to those who believe in philos-sophos doctrine, and the use of the dialectic: There are many books written by philos-sophos believers such as the students of George Hegel which speak out against our Fathers doctrine vehemently. Due in large part to their use of the dialectic and due to their belief in philos-sophos doctrine. The Apostle Paul engaged the Epicurean and Stoic believers in philos-sophos doctrine, that account is written in the book of Acts, chapter 17. Later Paul warned Christians not to allow philos-sophos doctrine (or any other doctrine of men) to become mixed with Christian (Hebrew) doctrine as it would cause great deception among the Christians (Colossians chapter 2). In the 1970s a Catholic, Marxist priest mixed the two doctrines by re-defining the meaning of biblical text based upon Stoic philos-sophos doctrine and the dialectic of Marx & Engels. The resulting doctrine is known as Liberation Theology.

Christians need to be aware of that false doctrine (Liberation Theology) and do all they can to steer clear of that doctrine as its core base doctrine, requires the transgression of the law. The dialectic of materialism as defined by Marx & Engels requires a Christian to transgress the law by coveting what which belongs to others (the 10th commandment) and afterward believing that its acceptable to steal that which is coveted (8th commandment). The theft has a fancy name, its known as redistribution, however its still theft. Anyone who follows this false doctrine known as Liberation Theology, will be judged according to their works which includes their transgression against the law.

Or father gave strict orders in the law concerning the poor and those who are blessed with material wealth, and how they are to act towards the poor or needy (Deuteronomy 15). Its not our place to judge and those who do not act according to the law as defined in Deuteronomy 15, will be judged by our Father, for their actions. Marx & Engels were wrong to assume they possessed the ability to judge others via their dialectic, only our Father and Christ have the right to judge. Christians must understand this point to avoid judgment themselves for blindly following false doctrine (Malachi 3:5).

In conclusion, the 10 commandments and ones adherence to those commandments will protect ones soul from destruction in the lake of fire upon Judgement day. Hell is to know that your soul will be judged to destruction in the lake of fire and that you will not be moving on to the next earth age with eternal life. Hell is knowing you had the chance to make the decision and you chose poorly. Hell is not a place, its a condition, which ends in the lake of fire.

We are each and every one judged according to our works in relation to the law. This is how the 10 commandments, and adherence to them become an advantage to each and every one of us. The beauty of the system is if we sin against those 10 commandments we can be forgiven for our sin. However don't think you can con our Father or Christ, because they know what is in your heart, and your mind. Forgiveness therefore does not apply to con jobs. One must be sincere in order to receive forgiveness. Forgiveness clears the writing in the book of life, next to your name. Since we are judged according to what is written in that book, and since forgiveness clears what is written, then its simple to understand why you want to follow the law and ask forgiveness for your individual transgression of that law. That is how the system works and that is how the 10 commandments become an advantage to each and every one of us.

Its never too late in the flesh, to leave a life of sin and transgression against the law, ask forgiveness and move foreword with a clean slate. We are not perfect and we are going to sin eventually, but we can be forgiven if we screw up... and we all screw up .... daily, myself included.

In Mark 16 how does Jesus' appearance to them help them to move on after on his death?

In the book of Mark, Jesus commands his disciples to go into the world and spread the good word of Jesus. They now had an important task to begin, following His appearances to them which gave them an unshakeable faith in the face of intense persecution which some of them were to experience. None of them denied Christ after this, although it would have spared them considerable suffering.
