One main disadvantage to having a T1 line is the lower speeds in today's higher bandwidth consumption demands. Today many will argue that the speeds are not sufficient enough, however with 99.9% guarantees on up-time, this is the first step towards quality commercial grade connectivity. Another disadvantage can be the set up costs which can be three times or more the monthly lease price.

A T-1 internet connection is very reliable, and if it does go down, the service agreement with the provider ensures a much faster repair time than with DSL. The T-1 is dedicated so more bandwith is allocated to the customer.
