The conservation of Energy/Resources: It is not only the easiest, but the most economical. To be able to supply utilities such as fuel, water, sewage systems, gas and electricity to people that live in a closer proximity rather than spread out.

The Abolition of the car: With public transportation offering; fast, cheap, and efficient public transportation, and with the price of fuel being sufficiently high, that would help the usage of cars not being used within city limits, and if they were it would lessen the use.

Proximity of Serves are closer: There will be food, fuel, clothes, everyday necessities available in a close proximity making it easier and more convenient for the Urban residents.

Benefits:
Vertical development allows for a smaller area of land to be used to perform the same functions.
Apartment living uses less materials for construction (shared walls, roof, etc.).
A good urban design will make all the goods and services available to the residents by foot or mass transit.

Disadvantages:
A phenomenon called urban heat island. Cities are a few degrees warmer than their cities.
Air and water pollution.
Duplicity of goods and services - since everything is available in an immediate neighborhood there may be redundancy.

urbanization is the increase in population of urban areas. Benefits of urbanization include improved economy, infrastructure, employment opportunities, social integration, accessibility to education and other social services and convenience. However, urbanization does not also come without it's problems which include pressure on infrastructure, pollution, competition, crime and environmental degradation.
