Go to places that you have of interest such as museums, library, galleries, sports, etc whatever they may be. Then scope out the room, being sure to check out the wedding finger, which is not always the best gauge, but its a start then, just start a conversation about whats around you. Have some information that may be not common to share and see where it goes. Sometimes, the best time and place to meet someone is when your not planning it or overthinking it. Community get togethers are always a good place too.

It's hard to tell what you mean by 'some British places', but people living in Britain are called Britons. People who used to live on landmasses that belonged to Britain, but were apart of it (for example in America), were and are called colonists?
It's not likely that the map is 625 inches wide as that would result in places that are 312500 miles apart. I'll guess that was supposed to be 6.25 inches and the places are 3125 miles apart.
