You don't need one in journalism to be a good writer. It about 8 to 10 years in college from the BA to a PhD. Four for the BA, 2 for the MA, and another 3-4 years for the PhD. I am not sure if a PhD is even offered in journalism.
For joining bachelors in journalism, You need to have 10+2 in any stream with minimum 50% marks. The colleges you can join are either Lovely Professional University, Amity or Jamia Milia Islamia.

I would definitely go for the University of Nairobi's School of Journalism. Established in the 1960's as a collaboration between UNESCO and the university to train African journalists. The school has evolved from providing Post Graduate Diplomas in Journalism to now offering both undergraduate and Masters level degrees. Undergraduate degree is a BA in Journalism and Media Studies with specialisations in either Print, Broadcast or Development Communication. Masters degree is in Communication Studies
Sociology
Generally skills which you would get from an English degree, so many will expect a BA in English. Although journalists don't necessarily do a lot of writing, you are expected to communicate to a high standard. There are also courses specifically for Journalism.
